Overview
News Block was the work of just a couple of hours. During my UX/UI Intensive, the UX students sometimes played consultants for the Web Development students in the program; on this occasion, we sketched out quick ideas for basic UI designs for a 48-hour student project.
The Outcome
Mid Fidelity Wireframes
Timeframe
5 Hours for design
48-hours for development
Team and Roles
UX/UI Design: Meade Peers McCoy
Web Development:
Timothy Martinez, Tushar Poojara, and Mixolidia Gautreaux
Tools Used
Pen, Paper, Adobe XD
Note:
The News Block is an out simple, super Low-fidelity project that I am still absurdly proud of, yes it’s missing back buttons, the spacing is haphazard, and the current greyscale color palette isn’t remotely accessible, but I love the idea, and all the little details I fit into a less than 5 hours of work.
Initial sketch work
We started the project by sitting down to review possible APIs and what types of websites could be built. After some consideration, we decided on a news site where the articles would be grouped by category so that users could review only the news they are interested in. We wanted a very visual interface and a focus on accessibility.
Low-Fidelity Prototype
Following the initial hand-drawn sketches, I created low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes in Adobe XD. I wanted to create a prototype so the web development students I was working with would understand the functions and interaction animations I had in mind.
